Classes and Timetables

Need to know information 

Every class will have basic clothing you will be required to get (normally shoes) and then costumes will be payed for on top of that, though there is a limit on how much teachers can spend on this. Bring plenty of water to class, wear something you can dance in and come with lots of enthusiasm and energy.

Beginners/Intermediate Tap - Tap shoes are required for this class but you can use trainers while you wait for your shoes to arrive, and when you are trying out the class in the first few sessions. 

 

Advanced Tap -  Tap shoes are required for this class.

​

Beginners/Intermediate Ballet - Ballet shoes, pink ballet tights and a black leotard for girls. Black ballet shoes and Black leggings for boys.

​

Advanced Ballet - Ballet shoes, pink Ballet tights and a Leotard.

 

Pointe - Pointe is an auditioned class, under regulations by the SU. These will be posted about on the main BU Dance Page, the class is also not allowed to be taught so it is choreographed as a group. To join but you must have previous experience with pointe and already have well fitted pointe shoes.

Irish - Soft black shoes, either Ballet or Jazz, If not Irish shoes. Hard shoes will be discussed in class.

​

Beginners/Intermediate Latin and Ballroom - For girls Heels with suede soles and boys preferably smart shoes with suede soles but if you don't have them trainers.

​

Advanced Latin & Ballroom - You must have your own pair of Latin dance shoes with a split suede sole, and for ladies’ a max. heel height of 2.5”.

 

Burlesque - Black heels that strap in your ankles are required for this class. It is essential your ankles are properly strapped in for good practice of health and safety. 

​

Beginners/Intermediate Jazz - For this class you will need a pair of Jazz shoes.

​

Advanced Jazz - A pair of Jazz Shoes

​

Beginners/Intermediate Contemporary - You can get foot thongs or go bare feet.

​

Advanced Contemporary - You can get foot thongs or go bare feet.

​

Beginners/Intermediate Street - Wear shoes you feel comfortable dancing in.

​

Advanced Street - Just make sure you wear something you feel comfortable dancing in.

​

Advanced Heels - Black heels that strap in your ankles and knee pads are required for this class.

​

Bollywood 

 

Taster Sessions - Please note that for taster sessions you do not need all the equipment/clothes/shoes you are welcome to come in comfortable sports clothes. Information about where and when, the taster sessions will be, will be provided on here, on the Facebook page and during serendipity.

How to find your class

Most classes are held in Rathbone, on College road.

​

Rathbone is about a 5 minute walk from Friddoedd accommodation and a 15 minute walk from St Mary's accommodation.

 

Some classes may also be held in Academi on Deiniol Road.
